WELCOME TO BEA UNDERWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Since 1981, Bea Underwood Elementary School has been providing elementary education to children in Parachute, Battlement Mesa, and surrounding areas. We are a public school serving grades 2nd to 5th and provide beautifully updated facilities with multiple playground areas, an outdoor classroom, orchard, student garden, large field, and stone fire pits for hosting special events.

Our School Mission: BUE is a caring community providing students with a meaningful and authentic education.

Our School Vision: We strive to empower our students to pursue their passions and to be kind, ethical people.

Literacy Curriculum: We use Wonders ELA Curriculum to build strong literacy foundations, ensure students are accessing complex fiction and nonfiction texts, provide opportunities for students to write about their passions and their lives, and to build social emotional learning skills.

Literacy Skill Building Program: Lexia® Core5® Reading is an adaptive blended learning program that accelerates the development of literacy skills for students of all abilities, helping them make that critical shift from learning to read to reading to learn.

Math Curriculum: We use Reveal Math to fuel active student engagement and deepen conceptual understanding. By encouraging curiosity, exploration, and a growth mindset, Reveal Math allows students to see math as a dynamic set of problem-solving strategies instead of the application of memorized algorithmic or computational procedures. This powerful paradigm shift allows students to learn the language of math and demonstrate their fluency all along the road towards standard mastery.

Math Skill Building Program: Originally developed by Stanford University, the Redbird Mathematics curriculum features the latest in adaptive instruction, gamification, and digital project-based learning. It is designed to meet the requirements of national and state math standards. It is a personalized learning program where understanding is developed through initial instruction and then honed through problem solving. Procedural skill initiates with instruction and fluency is achieved through plenty of practice, including engaging math games.
