(Desplácese hacia abajo para la traducción al español), Bea Underwood Elementary school needs to transition some classrooms to remote learning due to student or staff members testing positive for COVID-19. Because the health, safety and welfare of our students and staff is our top priority we have transitioned the impacted class(es) to online instruction. We are working closely with Garfield County Public Health and have conducted contact tracing. ALL IMPACTED STUDENTS AND STAFF WILL BE CONTACTED DIRECTLY. If you have not received a personal call and/or email from the BUE staff, asking your child to quarantine, your child is not directly impacted. Impacted students will transition to online instruction and will not be allowed back to school until their quarantine period completes. Impacted teachers, if they are not ill, are continuing to deliver instruction remotely from their homes for all students. Classes for non-impacted students will continue with coverage provided by substitute teachers, as needed. Custodial staff will completely deep clean and disinfect the school and prepare for the return of non-impacted students and staff. Anyone who develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19 including: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea is asked to stay home. Anyone with symptoms should seek medical care from their primary care physician, and isolate for the amount of days directed by public health at the time of this message. They must continue to isolate until they have no fever for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever reducing medication) and all other symptoms have improved. If you have questions you can contact Garfield County Public Health 970-945-6614, or in Rifle at 970-625-5200 at or Garfield 16 district administration office. Dressing for Cold Weather
We are excited to see everyone back a school tomorrow. Cold weather has arrived in western Colorado! Students will be outside for recess. It's good for students to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, but they need to come prepared for the colder temperatures. Please make sure your student is wearing proper winter attire to school (warm jacket, gloves, hat, appropropriate shoes). Sandals weather is over, please make sure your student(s) have warm shoes/boots for recess. If your student is in need of winter clothing/shoes, please call the office at 970-285-5703 and we will get you in contact with the School Based Family Resource Center. Also, all the snow and ice may cause delays during Drop Off and Pick Up. Please give yourself some extra time in the morning due to slick roads and snowy parking lots. Regular drop off time begins at approximately 7:20 a.m. and we open the front doors for student entry between 7:20 and 7:25 a.m. depending on morning needs at BUE. The first bell rings at 7:30 a.m. The late bell rings at 7:35 a.m. Children at marked tardy if they are not in their classroom by 7:35 a.m.
