Junior Mountaineers Camp (JMC) is back on the Western Colorado University campus again this summer, AND we’re adding overnight adventure camps for middle and high schoolers, featuring backcountry hut trips, expedition trips, and more! JMC is a state-licensed summer day and overnight adventure camp that blends athletics, outdoor recreation, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) learning. Led by experienced staff and Western students, JMC provides a safe, active, and inclusive experience for campers. Families can register by the week, with each week offering a unique theme and outdoor recreation activities. BUE 4th grade students had a blast during their Winter Ecology Trips. They learned about winter survival skills, orienteering, snowshoeing, and beaver habitats and behaviors. Thank you to Parachute/Battlement Mesa Kiwanis and our Outdoor Education Coordinator, Mr. Ari, for organizing the event, our parent volunteers and GVHS Key Club for helping, and Lynn Shore for the amazing photographs!

Garfield County School District 16 is proud to announce our student interns! Thanks to funding from Aspen Community Foundation, G16 has been able to hire several student interns throughout our district.

Thank you to Colorado Parks and Wildlife Game Warden, Nathan Harrel, for donating an elk to GVHS Outdoor Club. Our students were able to learn how to process game.
