Garfield County School District 16 is proud to announce our student interns! Thanks to funding from Aspen Community Foundation, G16 has been able to hire several student interns throughout our district. 

We will start with our Maintenance Intern, Victor Cruz. Here is an introduction from Victor: 

"My name is Victor Cruz and I’ve been working with the district since I started high school. I enjoy hiking, lifting, sports and working. When I’m not doing any of those things, I’m cherishing time with my loved ones."

El Distrito Escolar 16 del Condado de Garfield se enorgullece de anunciar a nuestros trabajador estudiantil. Gracias a la financiación de la Fundación Comunitaria de Aspen, G16 ha podido contratar a varios estudiantes en prácticas en todo nuestro distrito.

Join us for a GVHS & GVMS Winter Concert! December 9, 2025 7:00pm at GVHS. GVHS band, jazz band, choir, and guitar class will perform, as well as the GVMS choir. We hope to see you there!

Annual Rifle Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot! Saturday, December 6, 2026. A free throw contest for kids ages 8-13.

Key Club is hosting a Winter Clothing Drive! Bring your unwanted clothing to CFL, BUE, or GVHS December 2-12th. All donations will go to the School-Based Family Resource Center.

Thank you to GVHS Leadership for organizing a food drive and putting together food baskets for the Garfield County District No. 16 School Based Family Resource Center. A special thanks to Ecos Environmental & Disaster Restoration and many private donors making it possible for us to help 40 families with holiday meals.

On November 11, 2025, the Garfield County School District 16 Board of Education thanked Kim Whelan for her 4 1/2 years of service on the Board. The Board then swore in Brent Baker, Samuel Stewart, and Hunter Long, who were elected by acclamation. Thank you to Kim for your years of service to the students and staff of our school district, and thank you to our new directors for filling important roles on our Board.

BUE honored our Veterans this morning with an assembly. The BUE Honor Guard presented the flag and the BUE choir sang patriotic songs, explained the "Fallen Comrade Table," and thanked our Veterans for their service.

Last week, BUE students learned about bus and fire safety. Thank you to Grand Valley Fire Protection District and our amazing bus driver Donna Nichols for teaching our students about safety!

On Monday, November 3rd, conferences will be held at all the schools 10:30am - 6:30pm

On Tuesday, November 4th, there will be NO SCHOOL for CFL and BUE. GVMS and GVHS will be in session, as normal.

• CFL & BUE conferences on November 4th will be held from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.    
• There is NO CARDINAL CLUB (before/after-school care) on Tuesday, November 4th. 

You should have received or will be receiving more information from your student's school about scheduled conference times.
